Question:

Is it just me or is it possible that my once very dark brown eyes when I was young have been getting lighter?

It seems lately my eyes have become a slight lighter brown. I don't know if it has to do with genetics or what not, but all I can tell you is I have an astigmitism and I was born with cataracts in my eyes, but you can't see them unless you're an eye doctor with a light. He says that I was just born with them and most likely won't ever get worse, and of course wearing glasses with transitions will help! But I just told you that in case it might have something to do with it...I'm just curious as to why. Please provide detail because I want to know the scientific background behind it! Thanks...sorry I typed a lot! :)

  1. Ever looked at a very elderly person whose eyes were brown?  There's a thick rim of blue-I have no idea why the eyes went blue with age, but take a look around you.

  2. It's quite normal for you deep brown eyes to lighten as you age whether you've had eye problems or not.

When I was young, I had deep brown eyes. Now, my eyes are a hazel color --sometimes greenish-brown,  sometimes slightly golden-brown.

According to my Ophthalmologist ----this is quite normal.

Here's a link for the scientific information you requested (very interesting)
