  1. Yes, but usually they are two different rings that fit together.

  2. depends

  3. The engagement ring is the bigger diamond or the ring that is worth more money usually. I read that it goes back to when the engagement ring was basically an insurance policy for the brides virtue because while engaged they could have s*x and if the groom bailed out the brides virtue was lost and she was worthless and so the ring could help bring some money to the family.

  4. It is! Lol its actually because the engagement ring is the one worn for so long before the wedding. Would you rather walk around with a pretty diamond, or a metal band? Haha I think its better this way.

  5. You know, I don't much care for the formalities. My husband and I used the wedding ring and engagement ring as the same thing. Why spend 9 thousand dollars on an engagement ring only to spend more on a wedding ring. Just one ring to add onto later, if wanted.  But yes, I think wedding rings have always been plainer than engagement rings. Engagement rings are enticements and wedding rings, well, your just committed then so it doesn't need the enticement! lol. jk.

  6. Yep, but I think it's a good thing for a lot of girls.

    If anything, I don't wear my ering all the time because,since I'm left-handed, I sometimes hit the diamond on surfaces or have to worry about it getting scratched or damaged when I'm cleaning or cooking.

    But my wedding ring is a simple filigree band that I don't have to worry about that with, so I can wear it in more situations.  And, really, my wedding band is what I WANT to be wearing all the time.

  7. You wear the band at the bottom because what it symbolizes is closest to the heart. the engagement ring is great, but the wedding band is what makes the set great!

  8. LOL! That is only because a traditional wedding band was meant to be symbolic with less focus on beauty.

  9. Traditionally the engagement ring was given to show that the man would be able to provide a good living for his bride-to-be.  The better the ring, the more secure she would be, and the more OK her parents would be with her leaving them to go be a bride to this new guy.  The theory was that if the guy could afford to blow a was on a piece of jewelry, he could definitely give a young lady a great life down the line.  The wedding band, on the flip side, was originally a plain, unbroken band of gold symbolizing the eternity of the marriage commitment.

    Nowadays it's really not so much of an indicator, yet the tradition lives on.

  10. Depends on the wedding ring. Some are fancy and diamond-encrusted. Some are plain.

  11. Sometimes, but not always. I'll be working in coffee shops, restaurants and spas for the next twenty years, so I told my FH not to go the usual solitaire route. We found a Tacori-style eternity ring that I can wear on a chain around my neck. Example;

    I wear a delicate, semi-plain gold band on my finger;

    A big gorgeous rock would be great, but not cute on a chain!

  12. true! XD

  13. It depends on the rings but yeah, for the most part that's how it goes.  I know it confused me a lot when I was younger.  :-)
