when people think highly of themselves & want to be good people so they're nice to everyone in person but do things like...

ignore messages

initiate meaningless small talk

lie

suck up

drop hints

give false compliments

aren't straight forward/ give mixed messages

etc.

Why do people do this & why are they so popular?

  1. Fitting in is an artform that not everyone is good at, or should be.  I don't think these people do it to appear shallow but are just extroverts that maybe can't hold a connection, I don't know.  Just be yourself, don't concern yourself with all that.

  2. its just the way of the world i think.  there are very few true blue people out there anymore.  people are always looking for the easy way to advancement.  its not a pleasant world we live in sometimes.

  3. Some people play the popularity game well and are able to make friends whilst talking behind their backs. It often stems from insecurity. I find it is best to leave them to it. People find out who their true friends are sooner or later.

  4. I question your assumption that the are "so popular."  I also don't agree that they feel highly about themselves, because if they did, they would not do these things.  It may SEEM they think highly of themselves, but they are actually putting others down in order to build themselves up.  The are nice to people in public, but that is also a front.

Generally these people do NOT actually LIKE themselves, they are insecure and have low self-esteem.  They need to do these things because that is the only way they know to feel better about themselves.

They do these things to manipulate others to get their way.  Look up the definition of Narcissism.  You'll find them there.

    Have a polite day.

  5. These people are total nitwits.  They seem to think that the entire universe revolves around them and their petty lives.  Do not follow their example.  It's more important to be who you are.
