Question:

Is it just me or is this weather making people depressed?

  1. Long stretches of overcast weather do lead to depression because we miss out on some of the ultraviolet rays from the sun. I used to get SAD (seasonal affective disorder) from this lack of the blue rays at the far end of the light spectrum. They are abundant when the sun is shining and the sky is blue. I made myself a pair of blue LED light glasses, which I wore for about an hour every night before I went to sleep. Voila! No more depression.

  3. Yes it's called Seasonal Affected Disorder (SAD) and is most frequent in winter when it's cold and dark and people where dark clothing.  It can affect people in any season though...

  7. I agree.  The weather at the moment is very depressing, especially for me as I'm on annual leave and the weather is rubbish!

    Lets all cheer up and ignore the bad weather!!

  9. yes its proven fact that the weather does actually contribute towards feelings thats why u can buy light buld etc that trick your brain into thinking its natural sunlight i can't remember the name of the illness now but its where u do actually get depression in the winter but are fine in the summer. They must be depressed all year long living in the uk
