Is it just me-why should I have to pay to access a radio host's website?

I channel surf in the mornings. I am not a really big fan of morning radio shows, I love my music too much!. This morning, I happened to stop on the station that broadcasts the Lex & Terry morning show. They mentioned something on their site that I wanted to see. When I visited the site, I learned that to access certain parts of the site, you have to subscribe. They want $50/year to do so.

Now, I think that this is crazy.

Would you pay to access certain areas of the website for a morning show???

  1. Because with big name radio Djs they have people actually willing to pay to view or use that portion of the website.

Don't believe how many have gone to it as another form of money making revenue (Bob and Tom and Loveline is some others)... I could understand if it uses up a extra-ordinary amount of bandwidth.. but most of the time it's just another money making scheme by successful stars.

And maybe why unless you are a uber fan, you do like the rest of us and don't worry about it

But I agree with Jam... show a public face

  2. I listen to Lex and Terry too! I wouldn't pay to access certain parts of their website, but evidently a lot of people do. As long as people actually pay the $50/year they'll keep asking for it.

  3. I have some strong feelings on this matter.  I used to be a Morning Show Host for 7 years at a suburban Pittsburgh PA radio station.  The way I saw it, if somebody took the time to email me, call me, or even stop me on the street, I would never blow them off.... I always made time for my listeners.  The way I saw it, they had many other morning shows to tune into, and for some reason, they chose mine!  That made them special in my mind.  I would bend over backwards to cater to my audience.... I would never expect them to pay a single penny to look at something on my web page.

That's the way I feel about it, I would rather offer a free website that anybody could view, than ask people to pay a fee to view web content.

After all, more people will visit a free site, rather than pay to view site.....
