Is it lame to get your bridesmaids all the same matching necklace?

Okay here is the deal…for my bridesmaids gifts I got the girls all the same sapphire (real sapphires) circle pendant necklace in 10K white gold (from Zales). It’s really a very pretty necklace and since they are wearing blue, the sapphires will go nice. I got the necklaces in the mail the other day and the genuine sapphires are very dark (like almost black). Which at first I was disappointed about but then I started to think that since they are darker, they will be able to wear them more often because they will match more things. Then I don’t know I started thinking that maybe I should have gotten them all different sapphire pendants? I don’t want them to think that I didn’t put thought into it. I can still return them, so I'm not sure what to do.

FYI, I’m also getting them other things. Their necklace boxes are going to go inside fun-kins (artificial carvable pumpkins that look real) that will have their names carved into them (getting married on Halloween). The pumpkins are going inside tote bags that will have their names on them. I’m also putting into the tote bags mini scrapbooks that I am going to personalize for each girl with photos of us, etc. I might also buy these cute bridesmaid humor books that I saw on amazon and put them in the totes, but I’m not sure.

Well, first of all, sapphires vary alot in color, from light blue, to dark blue, almost black. So, it sounds as if they didn't look quite the way you wanted them to look...

Since sapphire is my birthstone, I would be perfectly happy with the necklace. Plus, since it is a precious stone, I think it is fine.

You know your girls best and whether they will like them or not.

Where I live, bridesmaids pretty much expect the bride to give them the jewelry to wear during the wedding.  And they are (almost) always identical.  I think that your sapphire necklaces sound lovely!

Stop worrying. You did great. They sound wonderful. You are a thoughtful friend. I have been a bridesmaid 8 times and received some real garbage. Once I didn't get anything and another time I got a homemade bracelet that looked like a 5 year old made it from plastic beads. Give them the necklaces. They will appreciate them.

Great idea--aren't bridesmaids supposed to look alike?  At least at the weddings I have attended they do.  I think you are getting the girls great gifts and they should be grateful.

When it comes to jewelry (since individual taste isn't too much of a factor) I would totally recommend getting the same thing for everyone.

This way no one is offended that you didn't spend as much on them or is jealous cuz someone else's necklace is prettier.

I would return one necklace and get your maid of honnor one that is diffrent from all the rest.  As far as the other things you mentioned I think it is a cute idea and I think they will like them very much.

that all seems like more than enough! they know you're busy
