If there is, a reference to the actual law would be appreciated.

  1. There is no law as such. Most local authorities have their own local design guidance for what is acceptable and what is not.  If the bollard is on the pavement, e.g. at the end of a footpath, there would probably be no need to place a reflector.  If the kerb just out into the road, for example to delineate the start of a parking zone or to calm traffic, then it would be advisable to place a reflector, but not mandatory.

  2. No not law!

The law doesn't make any suggestions about it. The general idea of them is to stop cars, but you wouldn't see them in the middle of the M8. At the side of roads and on high streets or to stop people driving up old roads bollards can be anything from polls in the ground to big rocks!

  3. If in UK should look at the Dept of Transport website, or maybe Road Traffic Regulations Act.....but yes, as with most things that have a legal right to be placed on or near a road they must conform to relevant regulations.

  4. I would say yes that some type of reflective devise should be placed on it to warn drivers and not cause a sever accident...
