You can take more than one wife in the UK, so long as you do not register it, as under UK law it is illegal. You would be a bigamist. But if you were to do nikkah, then as a Muslim you would be legally married, and not breaking any laws in the UK. However, the wife would not be recognised as a wife in the eyes of the law because of the lack of registering the marriage. So make sure to leave a Will for example to avoid confusion and difficulties. Insha'Allah.

Polygamy is illegal in the UK but you can have as many extra-marital relationships as you want. I think when a Muslim man has another wife she is not considered a legal wife.
