Can they also refuse to sell child tickets on the train, i.e. charge the same for adult and child, when it is half price at the booking office?

TOC = train operating company.

  1. Yes, because if the station has a ticket office that is open, then you have every opportunity of getting the ticket before you travel. The Guard has every right to charge full standard return or single.  Unless the station is unmanned.

  2. You need to look at the TOCs Terms & Conditions.  I bet it is!

  3. Yes, on the train they are permitted to charge the full adult fare for the journey if there were ticket office facilities at the station.
