  1. Any passenger must be carried in a manner so that no danger is caused, or likely to be caused, to any per son on the vehicle or on the road. (Regulation 100 of the Road Vehicles (Construction and Use) Regulations 1986)

dunno if that means anything to you, but spose it implies tht as long as their safe its ok, so the child seat wud b required

  2. In the UK I believe it is. My understanding is that passengers in a sidecar are treated as passengers in a car. However, they must wear helmets unless the sidecar has a roof.

I am not certain. I'd suggest telephoning the non-emergency number for the police. They will be quite happy to explain all aspects of the law.

  3. not only illegal but downright irresponsible get a grip of yourself for gods sake

  4. Yup, perfectly legal in Great Britain..

Friends of mine have never owned a car.  Their daughter (now 12 years old) was practically brought up in their sidecar.  Never had a problem.

  5. are you serious! a baby couldn't be safe even on a child seat because the motorcycle is too fast.!!!!!!

  6. well theres no legal age for a rear seat passenger ..i have my 6 year old on the back of the bike[straped to me] and that is fully legal. she loves it...i would say that yoe you can...question is ''should you''.

there are some stupid idiots on the road..you might be ok after a crash but will your child?..worth thinking about.

  7. Sidecars have been part of the motorcycling scene since the very early 1900s, and were prolific throughout the 1930/40s as economical family transport. Sidecar outfits , also known as ‘combinations’, now form a niche part of the motorcycle market as leisure vehicles which provide additional basic stability to the motorcycle whilst allowing families to share in the enjoyment of motorcycling. As there is no requirement for sidecar passengers to wear safety helmets , small children are easily transported.

  8. In most states there are laws against child endangerment. The seat would have to be strapped into the side car to keep from ejecting it in a crash. ALSO in MOST states a child under four years old has to be strapped into the back seat (head first to keep neck injuries to a minimum). It would be interesting to find out, but my guess is that MY state would frown on a child under 12 or so even being a passenger at all. I'll check with the DMV here one day. Check with yours and you'll get the answer. I just think that someone that would do that is guilty of endangerment period.

  9. look , how can anyone condemn putting a child in a sidecar , its not really any different to a car seat and as long as they are safely and legally fastened in . As for the answer motorbikes are " too fast " what a stupid statement ! what about the fools on pedalcycles who tow a small trailer with a child inside ?

  10. UHH.. that's just dumb to ask. come on now why would you even put your child in that kind of danger anyway if it was legal or not

  11. you have to ask the police that.

  12. Downright stupid but prob legal if it is attached

I see where someone got the idea for another question about clueless people
