  1. No you can't sign any legal document until you are 18.

  2. What do you mean "sign the title"?  A minor, under the age of 18, is not allowed to make contracts.  I don't know if you're talking about buying a car.

  3. In most states you have no legal rights, ownership wise. Your signature would not hold up in court.

  4. You can pay cash for a car and have the title in your name. Most companies will not finance under 18 or 21. You will need your own insurance since the car is in your name. This won't be cheap.

  5. Sorry, I believe you cannot legally own a car or sign for one.  It differs from state to state.  Most generally as a minor it is not legal.

Here is what I found from source below:

It will depend upon state laws at what age a person can legally have ownership of a vehicle. State laws can differ from one state to the next regarding the minimum age they will permit a person to own a motor vehicle.

In general though a juvenile cannot enter into a contract so thus cannot be a sole owner of a motor vehicle. A minor cannot normally actually own property. His or her parents technically own that property. If a parent will co-sign on a loan for a car, the juvenile can buy a car, but the parent will be the legal owner.

  6. I dont think there is a age requirement

son bought his first car at age 15- his name alone on the title

but then, he paid cash for the GTO

when he purchased his 2nd car at age 16 1/2  -

    1970 GTX 440 Super commando I co-signed the loan

title and insurance in his name alone

  7. It is legal for you to sign the car but because you are under 18 you have to have a co-signer that is willing to take responsibility if anything financial would happen to you. For example, if you don't have enough cash to pay for that month they would have to find your co-signer (usually it's one of your parents) that way they have collateral and definitely have money. It's just a way for the seller to ensure him/herself.

  8. You have to have an adult sign on the title...

I bought my car three months before I turned 18 and both my father and myself are on the title. It's actually my father OR myself... Worked well.

    Good luck!

    EDIT: I live in California

  9. I don't think so. You have to be 18 to  enter into a legal contract, which I'm pretty such this would be.

Either wait, or you really, really trust the person, go ahead.
