Is it legal for a private citizen to own handcuffs and/or leg irons?

There are so many novelty shops that sell them. Can they be purchased legally?

In many states you can't carry or display them but most states couldn't care less.

Used to see people wearing them as decoration or statements on clothing all the time. Not just the novelty types either.

I DO NOT THINK IT IS LEGAL for a civilian to carry handcuffs in his side. Unless a person is authorized by a body of a council or a part of a group for law enforcers. But just carrying them for fun and display is considered to be illegal they are as if mimicking the role of a police officers. If only inside the house and owning them I do not see any problem with it but bringing it out is.

IRON LEGS on the other hand, if inside the house I do not see any problems but I doubt if anyone will carry it in the streets, what is this the medieval ages? THE MAN IN THE IRON MASK?

Purchase yes legally, since a shop sell them why not. Just keep them at home do not bring them outside your house.
