Is it legal for a private pilot to take pictures from an airplane and sell the pictures after?

is there a regulation on this. Would I need a certification to do this. I know i cant fly for profit as private pilot but would selling pictures taken from an airplane I fly be something o.k. to do??

Yes, I have paid big bucks for pictures of my ranch from someone that I have never met. I guess that they gambled that I buy them, and my neighbors also.

Yes indeed it is legal. As long as you're not in a no-fly zone.

The commercial operation is the photography, not the flying; so the Private ticket is fine.

Your city may require a business license but the FAA could care less.
