I had an interview yesterday and i was asked a few questions i had never been asked before at an interview, like if i was single or married? If i had any kids, what did my husband do for a living? if i would be offended if they play christian music and then she went on to say she was Muslim and the other girl was Christian and they both looked at me like your next so i said no it wouldn't bother me.

  1. maybe it has to do with your work ethic...oh yea, what kind of a job is this? haha

  2. NO they do not.  And I would be thinking long and hard about working there

  3. I have been asked numerous times on my marital status & children. The reason being some companies are family orientated, where as others may worry family commitments my interfere with your employment.

  4. rosa_baby is 100% right.

  5. They are not allowed to ask you those questions. I'd report them.

  6. All of those questions cannot be asked during job interviews. If you are not given the job and you feel it is at least in part due to those questions, you should file a complaint with the EEOC.

  7. the only way they would be allowed is if u were applying for a private or a religious school or a church. but in a regualr job no absolutly not.

  8. Sounds like a case study in what you cant ask in a interveiw..they cant or shouldnt ask any of those things..tho a good hiring rep might find a way to inquire about if you have a sensitivity to religious or ethnic themes or music ,tho that wouldnt apply in most hiring scenerios..generally they should never ask any of that stuff.
