  1. If your employer needs you to work on a project, you should accommodate the company.  You never know when you will not a "time off," at the last minute and need to be accommodated.  It works both ways.  You go to work on

an unscheduled day, and remind your boss that you did a favor by working when he needed you.

  2. They can legally change your hours up to 12  hours before a scheduled shift, but have to allow for 8 hours in between shifts.

  3. More than being legal it is irritating.

  4. Yep.  They can also make you work late, come in early, work on the weekend and miss your best friend's wedding....but only if you want to keep that job.

  5. Absolutely. Where I work they were making us put in 5 hours of unpaid overtime every week for salaried people, essentially a 9 hour day for 8 hour's pay when things were really hot and there was lots of required overtime to meet schedules and keep costs down. We at least understood the reasons. If they go out of business we lose our jobs. Its a give and take world out there. Employers have to have some control over their employees if they want to stay in business, after all, they are paying you for that day right?

  6. Yes. Why would there be a law against this?

  7. I know that they cannot fire you for NOT working on a scheduled day off. Any further problems like this one you should direct to the better business bureau.

  8. did he have a gun to your head? if not ,then you came in by choice. its not illegal
