Is it legal for me to quote information contained within my employee performance review?

  1. Yes, it's legal, but commercially?  I assume you mean when advertising your services or looking for another job.

    were you given a copy of the review?

    in some states the personnel files are considered property of the EMPLOYER and as such you would have no right to reprint any portion of it.

    however if you are given a copy of the review then you have every right to do with it what you see as appropriate.

    EDIT:

    you can not use the past employers name or the names of any supervisors that may be on the review without a release from them.

    Oregon is one of the states that require the employer provide a certified copy(at a reasonable cost) of the personnel file for at least 60 days after termination or as long as the employer has the file.
