getting promoted and getting a raise?
My supervisor has been with the company for over 17 years. I am sharing an office with her. At the very beginning, I had a superb working relationship with her. I had never taken lunch break or mini breaks even though I was entitled to those breaks. After working there for two years, I started taking my half hour to one hour lunch break, and 2 10 minutes mini break at 10 o'clock in the morning, and 3 o'clock in the afternoon. (These rules are clearly stated on my employee manual, and I believe they are protected by California labor law.)
Yesterday, my supervisor had a talk with me.She told me "I have noticed you have been taking way too many breaks, and you never had to take those breaks before. Something has certainly changed, your working attitude has certainly changed. It will be very hard for you to get promoted or getting a raise."
I told her "well, I am entitled to these breaks, and they are protected by California labor law." She didn't say anything after that.
I am just wondering if my supervisor holds it (taking breaks that I am entitled to) against me, how do I do to protect myself? thank you
