  1. Yes it is legal to stand in a bus...........

  2. It really depends on your local state road rules and regulations.  In NSW Australia, there is a capped limit on the number of passengers that can be seated, and another limit for standing passengers.  Anything above this and there would be legal implications.  Each bus that falls within these regulations has the passenger limits printed on the rear of the bus.

  3. It is legal for passengers on a bus to stand while the bus is in motion.

It is NOT legal for passengers (ie students) in a School Bus to stand while the bus is in motion.

  4. I am not aware of any law that states it to be "illegal" for people to be standing in an over-crowded bus.  Overcrowding anywhere inside of a public building, elevator, or motor vehicle is, indeed, a safety issue that should be considered by the driver before stopping, as well as by the passenger or passengers before riding in such a vehicle. However, a law suit could NOT be upheld in court unless someone got injured or killed as the result of an accident that could be directly related to the overcrowded condition.

  5. Don't try man, they'll just make it 3 to a seat instead.

  6. If It Is A Standard Service Bus, There Is Legislation To Regulate The Number Of People Travelling On A Bus. The Vehicle Must Display A Sign Which Gives The Seating Capacity And The Permitted Number Of Standing Passengers.

If No Standing Is Permitted On The Vehicle In Question There Should Also Be A Sign To This Effect And The Driver Should Enforce The Policy/Regulation In Either Case.
