Is it legal for physicians to charge interest on past due bills?

Suppose the fee is outrageous and they are unwilling to budge. They are claiming that they can't legally accept a lower payment,, not sure of the details but it sounds like a bunch of bull. Now they want to start tacking on interest at 18%.

  1. Yes, it is legal.  Better work something out before they send it to collections.


  2. When you don't pay your bills on time it turns business's  into banks and they are within their rights to charge 1.5% per month or 18% a year on past due accounts.

  3. if they have set themselves up as a lender it is. If not then no way in the U.S.
