Is it legal for political campaigns to take information off of voter registration cards?

I live in Texas. Some campaigns have their deputized voter registrars copy information from voter registration forms for the campaign's database (potential volunteers, supporters, etc.) Is this legal?

  1. Technically, yes.  Once you are registered to vote, some of that information becomes available to the public.  To be picky, they're skipping a couple of steps but it's legal.


  2. Check with your local or state registrar of voters.
