i want to drive, although i don't have a permit but i wanted to know if my parents can teach me how to drive instead of going to driving school. And my parents don't want to risk the chance of getting a ticket. so they want me to make sure if its legal for parents who have a license to teach me to drive.

  1. NO, unless you are on private propery. they can drive you to a church parking lot, let you drive, then they drive again on the public road. Kids can drive by themselves all over private farms.

  2. It's illegal. Everything is money now a days- unless your school pays for free driver's ed- you/they will need to cough up or wait till your 18.

  3. As a teen, you need so many hours of classroom training to get your learner's permit, and then so many hours of behind the wheel (with a certified instructor) before you can get your license. And (at least in MN) they need so many hours of supervised driving (with a parent), with part of that being at night, in the rain, and other adverse condition).

  4. No it is not legal, and if you are pulled over, your parent will have their license suspended for allowing an unlicensed driver to drive.

  5. Hi!

It's illegal. Don't drive if you don't have a licence unless you are in need for some big problems.

  6. No. Get a permit first. Thats what you need to have your folks teach you.

  7. You MUST have a permit for you to get behind the drivers wheel.  At that point you could have your parents, a driving school, or drivers ed teach you how to drive.

  8. Depends on the state.  I had to get my permit first, and then my parents taught me.  I never had to do driving school.  That was in ND

My husband's niece had to pass the course at school before she could get her permit.  That was in NC.

  9. The days of teaching a teen to drive on Sundays in an empty parking lot are long gone!  Yes, you will need to get your learners permit before you get behind the wheel.

  10. if you want to drive at 16 you have to have your permit 6 months prior and it has to come from a driving school ...I just did this with both my kids the only way you do not need to go to school for a permit is to wait until you are 18 then you can just take the test and driving instructions.  Driving school is pretty cheap its better than you getting pulled over your car WILL be impounded, and you will not be able to get your license until 18 or 21 depending on the judge.
