  1. Yes it's legal. The fact that the 18 year old isn't prepared to live on their own is of no consequence. They need to start being nice to the parents or GTFO.

  2. Not a problem.

  3. totally legal. even if their still in high school

  4. legal...yes

    ethical...no

  5. Legal, yes it is. Moral? Maybe not but depends on the situation and family dynamics.

  6. Unfortunately, it's legal; in many states 18 is an adult.  However, if you're paying rent, you may be entitled to a 30 day notice prior to leaving the house.  It may be hard to look for your own place, but if you dad is mean enough to kick you out, you'll be better off outta there anyway.

  7. As a Father I have responsibilities, obligations, liabilities, and  three lawyers trying to help me discover ANY legal rights left for the man, the husband, the father in these "Oh so progressive" modern American times. Try offering the father respect, co-operation and apologies. The man, the Father may not always be the villain.

  8. In saome countries 14 is an adult so they are put out to make a life for themselves. It is a theory that is still commonly practiced in america...BUT.....that does not make it right. They legally have a right to boot you, but they should have waited. If this happened to you, you need to go to your parents and ask why they did it. Maybe they will let you come back or help your out with some $$ to get you on your feet.

  9. legal yes....Right??No (unless there is a really good reason)

  10. Very legal.  You are technically grown now.  I would definately be kissing some, well you know, if you dont have any where else to go.  Im sorry I dont have any better advice.  Get back in the house, be remorseful, get a job and your act together and get up outta there!

  11. yes. since the age of 18 is be considered as adult. so it his choice to kick son/daughter out of the home. unless you are willing to pay rent or help with the bills in some sorts.

  12. yep sure can as an adult he doesn't have to support you anymore so he can do almost anything to you.

  13. Yup.

Of course that's the easy answer.  The reason behind the father's decision would, of course, make a difference in whether he's morally right to do so, but legally yes, he's well within his rights.

  14. You are 18 so yes but there is a catch. If your personal items are there he has to give you 30 days notice to evict you from the property. He cant just throw you out on the street.

  15. Legally yes.  Parents don't do this lightly so there probably is a very strong reason why.

  16. Yes. An 18 year old is an adult. No one is obligated to provide them free room and board. You should learn proper grammar, get a job, and learn to take care of yourself.

  17. Yep its perfectly legal..although in some cases I do see it as wrong to do but if the child is out of control or doesn't even show any interest in helping where needed then I back that up.

When you turn 18 you are legally an adult and your father does not have to support an adult is he chooses not too which means he can kick you out on your 18th bday if he felt like it.

  18. Yes, it's legal.  They are both adults at that point - the parent is no longer legally responsible for the now-adult child.

  19. Well it isn't illegial. my father moved out on me when i was 17, i still went to school and graduated and was my legal guardan while i was in school. but i would say that if the child wasn't trying to get a job or anything like that, kick them out and they will learn quickly to grow up and be a responsible adult. They will however be mad at you for a while but will then realize that you only did it for their own good!

  20. It's definitely legal; an 18 year old is technically an adult.

I don't know if I would do it myself considering the 18 year old in question has no job, but that's not what you asked.

  21. If you are 18, you are legally considered an adult, so yes its legal. This son/daughter can vote, get foodstamps, be tried as an adult and buy ciggerettes, so they can surely be kicked out.

  22. If they want you to leave, and you've paid no rent, then they can make you leave at any time, however, if you have paid rent, then they are required to give you thirty-days notice.

Also, if your parents claim you as a dependent on their taxes, then you have a right to be there, because of the money they receive from the IRS for dependents.

Consider applying to a college or university where they have dormitories, that way you'll have someplace to live. Best wishes.

  23. Yes, it is perfectly legal. The son or daughter should have a job by then anyway.

If not, they deserve to be kicked out.

  24. At 18 you are a legal adult. Yes you can be put out.
