let's say on a night the restaurant makes 100 in tips; 9 people worked that night. instead of dividing the tips by 9 they divide them by 10 (1 being the restaurant) so everyone of the people that work get less. IS IT LEGAL?

  1. not only is it legal, but the tips can be a proportion of the minimum wage ruling.ie if minimun wage is £5 ph and you work for 4 hours and your share of the tips over that period was £10. Then you are only legally entitled to £10 wages and £10 tips =£20 over 4 hrs = minimum wage (i know minimun wage is not £5pph but simplified things) I think it stinksby the way.

  2. YES ITS LEGAL AND TIPS ARE ALREADY ADDED  TO YOUR BILL AS A SERVICE CHARGE AT 25%
