Yes.  Green burials are becoming more popular in the US, where the deceased is shrouded in a cloth and buried without a casket or embalming.  As for the comments from Mary, they are completely incorrect, and the numbers she stated for 20 years ago aren't even close.  A wholesale copper casket (one of the best caskets) TODAY is about $3800, so where she got that they wholesaled for $3000 20 years ago is a mystery to me, because that is far from correct.
