I think it's reasonable to charge for the DVD/Tape used, and maybe any time spent (e.g. kids make money pet sitting) but I believe it's illegal to charge admission for showing a film you taped.

If it is in the privacy of your own home, yes. As long as you are not grossing a certain ammount of money, it would not be considered a business.

It can be, depends on the show and station.  Watch the credits closely and see if they put the disclaimer out there.  Something along the lines of any rebroadcast without written consent will be punishable by law.  or some such thing.  You hear or see it a lot near the end of different sports games.  But don't know about tv shows, as I don't watch many of them.

Who cares, just do it anyway and don't tell anyone.  Its ilegal to record shows. stupid.

you'll be safe if you do it in a creative way. for example, ticket scalpers will sell you a rose for $50 and throw in a free baseball ticket. you could try that. it would be legal, but possibly not morally right.

I think you could get a slap on the wrist for it. All that small print at the end of shows pretty much say that you can't record and turn a profit. Those are trademarked and copyrighted works and if you were ever caught, the owners of those works could sue you.

I wouldn't if I were you. Networks have teams of expensive lawyers to protect them from this kind of thing.

your basically selling that material arent you in a way and its most likely copyrighted so im guessing yes..

i record shows but for family and friends and i dont charge anything...

who are you doing it for if your not a business?
