I have itunes and i really do not like paying 99 cents per song when i can get it for free from limewire. However, I am a decent human being and I will change my course of action when this question is answered.

  1. you might want to try frostwire its alot better then limewire

  2. No. It's illegal

  3. 99 percent of the content on limewire is illegal so don't use it.

  4. If the music is worth listening to, its worth paying for.

Any copyrighted music on limewire would not be legal to download, unless the copyright owner has explicitly given permission for it to be publicly available for free.

Copyright means that the author of the work (the copyright owner) has the *right* to control how and under what terms their work can be *copied*

  5. http://www.flickrmusic.com  is sure the best place to download from the Internet., especially since the databases are so huge, downloads easy, and I was provided with all burning software I needed.. I love this site

  6. it's illegal - in fact they're having a crackdown on it. You could get a really big fine if you illegally download music.

  7. No it is not legal.  Also, I was downloading a bunch of songs off Limewire the other day and my Avast Antivirus showed an MP3 file to have a virus.

So, not only is it illegal, but you'd better have some protection if you're still going to do it.

  8. Downloading anything from the internet where they show no connection of the download object with it's creator is illegal. And they do start closing up all of those websites.

  9. It is legal to use your peer program only to transfer files back and forth between machines that you own at both ends and then only if you have paid for the files. Even then if the files exist on more than one system you must pay for multiple copies.

  10. No.  Downloading any file that's under copyright (commercial music, software, movies, TV shows etc) without paying for it is illegal unless you have permission from the copyright holder.  It doesn't matter how you do it, the act itself is a crime.  It's copyright infringement, and the penalty is a fine between $750.00 and $150,000.00 and up to five years in prison per file.

If you plan to use Limewire to listen to music from unsigned bands trying to get an audience, that's legal.  But downloading music that's been ripped from a commercial CD is illegal.

Why not buy used CDs?  Sometimes you can get them for less than $1 at Amazon, which makes it cheaper than iTunes and you can control the audio quality if you rip it.

  11. No, the only person that really owns the music is the artist but the right to   use it is sold when it's bought from a legit provider
