Is it legal to get a small boat boat such as 2 person boat at paddle out 1/4 of a mile out in the ocean in?

california at the state beaches such as carpinteria state beach. i just got a small pacifica 200 by sevylor and i would like to know what ican do with it in california at the beaches.

The Pacific Ocean is not a swimming pool.  That water can be very dangerous and a small boat is not suitable for ocean travel or play.  Unless of course you're suicidal and want to drown when your toy capsizes...

It's not illegal if you're properly equipped by that I mean the boat has some personal flotation devices on board at the least. Some regattas for small sailing vessels are held that far off shore. The question is , is it safe to do so in the conditions? That's up to you ,your skill and the weather.
