Is it legal to have WI car insurance and live in IL? Can i have WI plates with IL insurance? Is that legal?

Am working and renting in Chicago and have WI plates and liscence. Am wondering if this is legal and for how long? Am in transition right now to another state most likely but this won't be for another 3-4 months. Should I keep everything my plates and insurance WI?

All is legal for 6 months then you need to declare your IL address as your residence for drivers license. car and ins can be in another state as long as it is your perminate address.All others are temporary addresses
