  1. As of 2008, Minnesota changed their regulations on minimum calibers for deer hunting.  It has now been simplified and the minimum is a .220 center-fire.  They previously had specs on cartridge length, caliber, etc.

The DE .50 exceeds the .220 minimum and is also a center-fire which should suffice for the law.  I'm unsure, but I'd have to guess that this would also apply to elk or moose (or any other large game).  The best bet would be to contact the MDNR and ask a game warden, because the law may vary based on target species.

  2. Brian is correct... to a point. You also need to check the MN law regarding the use of handguns for hunting big game. While caliber restrictions may apply to rifles, some states do not allow handguns for hunting big game.

  3. if handguns, are legal to hunt with, you could use the desert eagle, but i know of no one , of sound mind, who would want to

  4. To be safe I would check with your state Game Warden!*

  5. i think it is

  6. h**l no...the desert eagle .50 cal is one of the most powerful most deadly handly guns...i dont know what you are hunting, but unless its a grizlly bear or something i would suggest toning it down a lil

  7. during the handgun season you could, but it would be a dumb idea in my opinion.  See, the Deagle is an overly large overly fragile gun that is best kept on the movie screen or at the firing range as a toy.  Further, the 50AE has no properly constructed hunting bullets.

A 357 magnum revolver with a proper hunting bullet would be a much better choice than the Deagle, and a 44 magnum revolver would stand head and shoulders above the silly Deagle.

Regarding the change in MN law, I am a MN resident and this is the first I have heard of it.  I suspect it is referring to rifle cartridges only, because technically a 25acp fits that legal requirement.

To Dan, the 50 Desert eagle isn't anywhere near as powerful as a true rifle.  I'd much rather have a 338 winchester magnum rifle in bear country than a deagle.  (well, maybe the bear would laugh at my silly deagle long enough for me to climb a tree)
