Question:

Is it legal to install xenon headlights in cars in Malaysia?

I get contrasting information. I read in news that they are illegal - officials from the Road Transport authorities were quoted as saying that they will fine those found with such lights installed. Then I read that our national car manufacturers install xenon headlights as standards in their new models. Personally, I hate these lights. They hurt the eyes when coming from a car opposite and irritates when the lights shine into my rear-mirror.

  1. From all that I have read, they are illegal.

  2. It is illegal to install xenon bulbs if it is not the standard specs for your car model. It is only legal if the xenon bulbs is part of the standard specs which came with the car.

But it is crazy to have such lighting as it is dangerous to other road users. And it is also very dangerous for the driver of such vehicle during heavy rain at night .However malaysia is truly asia as we have 2 different sets of law. One for the elites and rich  and one for the common people.
