I call the police/Fire Department and asked them about my neighbor who has two containers of oil/transmission fluid in open containers for at least one week. They call me back and said they could not do anything about it because it has to be 55 gallons or more to be illegal. Does anyone know anything about this? I thought it would hurt the waste stream if this spilled.

  1. it might not be illegal , but its not ethical. best to take it to recycle[auto parts store] or put it in sealed container.[milk jugs. laundry jugs]  they will take if for free/ some people will buy it,

  2. Mind your own business.

  3. That small of an amount will do no harm to the environment unless pored straight into a stream. It is gets tipped over it will spread out and evaporate over a period of a weeks or months depending on the environment. .

  4. I DONT KNOW IF ITS ILLEGAL BUT ITS NOT SAFE KEEP IT SEALED ATLEAST
