Vote for Obama. He will unionize your employment and you can the hours down without risk of losing your job. You'll also get a raise and mandatory employer sponsored health insurance. Then again you'll lose your job when they relocate overseas.

It is legal if you're an adult, are getting paid, and agreed to it. Nurses typically work shifts of 12 hours or longer. Depending on what state you live in, you may be eligible for overtime pay for working longer than an 8 hour shift. The states that this applies to are Alaska, California, Colorado (after 12 hours), and Nevada. Otherwise, there is no federal law against it.

Oh!  Now it's 14 hrs instead of 1!!  It depends on your age.  If you are an adult, as long as you are getting paid, yes, it's legal.  If you work more than 40 hours in one week, it must be overtime.
