Is it legal to own a firetruck siren?

and if so would you be aloud to "set" them off every now and then. as long as you complied with the noise ordinance in your area???????

You can get one, but it's illegal to put it on your vehicle. Same with red or blue lights.

You can own one, just don't mount it on anything or use it.  It would definitely get you some citations if you set it off.

Own them, no. Driving around setting it off, yes. As long as nobody complains you could probably set it off at your residence, but someone will complain. people have nothing better to do, so I wouldn't recommend it

I believe it's legal to own one as a souvenir, but illegal to use it, as this is misrepresentation.  In my town, we had a guy who bought a former fire department rig that somehow still had a light bar.  When he heard about fires or car wrecks, he'd race to the scene, the light bar blazing.  People got confused by him and pulled off the road, which can be dangerous when it's abrupt.   He was eventually in a wreck.
