In terms of legal no it is not legal to play online poker from U.S. except a few territories. But players still play without getting their accounts closed because this law was not set with proper standards and regulations and did not include payment transfers through paypal, etc making it legal to deposit money online but illegal through a bank.

Yes, it is absolutely legal. The law is only for the banks to not let you deposit money, but you can use other methods for deposits sucj as Echeck and all access visa gift card. Online poker is both legal and illegal!

Federal law does not prohibit online poker, but it does restrict your ability to deposit and withdraw, and can cause you to take some chances with your money with operators that may not be totally reliable.

There is no federal law that makes it illegal to play poker online with a foreign gambling sites.  There is a bogus law that limits transactions by banks to gambling sites.  Some states have enacted online gambling laws, but they are just as un-enforceable.  But gamble at your own risk.  You can read articles and reviews of sites at http://poker-lobby.com Hope this helps.
