  1. What you are describe is not a moped.  It would fall under the scooter or motorcycle classification.

  2. i dont know about illinois, but in ohio, the moped has to be LESS then 50cc and have 1 horse power or less, and have a top speed of no more then 20mph on a flat surface, if it doesnt match that criteria, it is legaly a motorcycle.

you can get a moped licence in ohio at age 14, hope it helps

  3. it is ellegal to speed in all 50 states, and you question is what?

  4. Junior, you won't find a 150CC moped. Mopeds are by definition under 50CC and equipped with some kind of pedals, ostensibly to start the engine, and they will barely go 30. They are highly dangerous and totally impractical for anything other than slow speed street use, and are prohibited from most highways. You can, however, find all manner of scooters and assorted motorcycles with 150CC motors. Some of these will top 50 miles per hour or more, but certainly don't expect much over 60. Even if they can go that fast, the engine is wound up so tight that its life expectancy is seriously diminished. These are not mopeds and should not be confused with mopeds under any circumstances. You need to get a copy of your Illinois department of motor vehicles manual, and if they have one specifically for motorcycles, get one and read it before you take any advice from anyone here. Except me.

  5. In most states, above 50cc and 30 MPH means it has to be registered/insured as a motorcycle whereas a small moped does not require registration/insurance, simply that you be 16 and have a drivers license.
