  1. go ahead

    no-ones going to know ;)

  2. I don't think it's illegal unless it's issued in your name.  For example, if you bought an annual pass, used it for 6 months and then sold it, it  would be illegal.

  3. You should be able to get your money back from whoever you bought it from. I tried selling one on ebay once and they took it off. I don't see why you shouldn't be able to sell it as it doesn't have your name on like an airline ticket so you could try.

  4. Generally, no, you can't.  Buying a ticket is agreeing to a legal contract with the rail / issuing company.  It is between the Company and You, the original purchaser (as the argument goes).

On the other hand, if you can achieve this 'quietly', then I hope you can.

Rail companies get away with 'overselling ticket numbers' without any qualms as to the safety or comfort of the travelling public.

[ My arguments are made very simplistically - because it's a complex argument and I have not the time to argue it through ~ nor you the desire to read it anyway ]

    Sash.

  5. its not illegal to sell anything, unless its something you shouldnt have, like a gun lol.

National rail will refund you a unused ticket but they charge a fiver i think, try looking at their website or ring them National Rail Enquiries: 08457 48 49 50

  6. Yes it is illegal, but the chances of anyone finding out are extremely small.

Is it just the return portion that you are looking to offload, or the whole ticket? If it is the former, then your chances of finding a buyer are remote. In either case, as others have said, you can normally return it for a refund but you will have to pay an administration charge. However, if you sell the ticket you cannot expect to realise anywhere near the face value unless it is for a heavily used route where the tickets are considerably more expensive if not booked in advance.
