Is it legal to sell recorded VHS tapes that have content from TV?

I'm just wondering if it's legal or not. I recorded some sports games and events on TV onto my VHS tapes a few years ago. Is it legal to sell those?

Short answer - no.  You do not own the distribution rights to those programs and thus cannot sell them legally.

It is a federal offense to dub copyright material. Although, in the past I purchased dubbed movies @ local yard sales but I didn't tell anybody they were wrong. I enjoyed the movies. I guess it depends on who you sell them to.
