My partner has ILR in the UK but we are applying for Oz visas. His old passport has the ILR but will need the Oz visa in the new one - can we staple them together?

Has anyone done this and did they run into any difficulties?

  1. Don't do it. The new passports have a chip in the cover. You must keep the old passport if it has visas that are important to you.

  2. No- interfering  with a genuine passport will invalidate it.

  3. Please do not deface your passport as it will render it unacceptable. For more information Phone the 24-hour Passport Adviceline on 0870 521 0410 or visit www.ips.gov.uk

  4. I wouldn't do anything to damage a passport, best just to take both of them seperately or get the ILR transferred.

  5. I wouldn't do that. I imagine it would be seen as defacing your passport which will make it nul and void.

  6. Don't put staples into it. Phone the passport office to be 100% sure what to do.

  7. it's legal. my husband got 3 stapled passports already.   :) as it is really expensive to transfer your visa to new passport. some people even have their visa on a  A4 paper only bec. when they got their stay, the passport is expired so homeoffice issue them on A4.so it's fine!
