  1. You can tow it, while it's on tow, (connected), it's on your insurance.

You can't legally leave it on the public highway though, it has to go from private land to private land.

  2. It is only legal if it is off the ground i.e. on a trailer. If it has any wheels touching the road it need to be taxed, insured and MOTed. The only exception is that it does not need a tax or MOT if it is being taken directly to an MOT testing station for a prebooked MOT.

  3. if the car is on a trailer and all four wheels are off the ground the car does not need to be taxed insured or have MOT but if any part of the said vehicle is on the highway all 3 must be in place and up to date.

  4. Yes it's legal.

  5. You can see from some of the answers, just why there are so many problems on British roads, can't you?

If a car has any of it's four wheels on a public road, whether it's moving or not, whether it's broken down or not, it is required to have tax, an MOT and valid insurance.  By law.

  6. To be towed it doesnt have to be Taxed, Insured, or M.O.T d your own car insurance is sufficient. Just the same as for a trailer or caravan.

  7. It is legal to tow it. It only needs to be insured or registered if the car is being operated. Since the car is being towed not operated so it is legal. Just be careful and make sure you are using a real legal tow truck to tow it or  it just a regular car or truck you need to have lights that goes on the trunk of the car being towed so that the person following you won't rear end you or can see you signaling a lane change.

  8. I would say that it is legal but it would be better on solid tow, ie: on a draw bar.

  9. Yes it is, but only on minor roads.

  10. Twisted and postie are correct.
