Question:

Is it legal to transport sheep manure across state borders in Australia?

I have recently started producing pellets from sheep manure to be used as mulch or fertilizer. Is it legal to ship these around Australia? This is only a hobby with production at no more than 1 ton a week. The property I get the manure from is certified free from Ovine Johnes disease and the pellets are dried right back to less than 10% moisture to kill the nasties.

  1. don't ship it around Australia its full of weed seed like stinging nettle and other stuff.

you have to heat treat it

  2. I'm not sure if you can on the pellet level for fear of moving non native plant species around the country.  I think if you check with some agricultural departments nearby they can offer up a more concise answer.

A question for you:  Would getting a business license to do this help you get a few more answers / insights?

    Good luck!
