Question:

Is it less socially acceptable to be extremely violent toward animals or just mildly violent toward humans

I remember when kids used to tell stories about how they tortured cats and dogs and stomped on rabbits and stuff like that and it would really bother me that it seemed normal to them and they never got in trouble for it. Then one day when I kicked a kid in the head practicing a move I saw on Dharma & Greg, I got suspended... Is being mildly violent to a person worse than torturing animals in your views? I don't think so, am I wrong?

  1. Extreme violence directed at anything is wrong.  You didn't say if it was intentional or not.  People who maliciously hurt animals are sick.  If it's your usual behavior to be "mildly violent" you need some help. No form of violence is alright

  2. Of course it is, we eat animals, is it socially accepted to eat people? (well it depends on the society I think)

  3. 1) Did anybody turn those kids in?

    2) You were on school grounds. They have to control.

The difference is Intent. You didn't mean too kick that kid upside his head. But things happens and you did. Your Remorse show you are truly Sorry for what you did.

Those who get pleasure from the Torture of things weaker and smaller then they are. Have a mental problem and have a good chance of escalating too People.

Both are wrong if the intent is your own pleasure.

In your case, you didn't mean it. It was really a accident. I hope you have apologized to make things OK between you and the other kid. It's the Adult thing to do.

  4. usually the first is a precursor to the second.  So I would say that they should be treated the same.

  5. well animals cant really defend themselves. why would you want to hurt one in the first place.i can see if its harming you.but most animals just go about their own business. so yes i think its worse to hurt an animal.

  6. Animals were protected before children were in this country... so you might have it backwards

  7. It's socially unacceptable for both of them, but animals don't hold as much worth as a fully aware human does. Man can be a savage beast, though.

  8. I think that it is becoming more socially frowned upon to be violent towards animals than it has in the past. But yeah, you are right, people do tend to get in more trouble for being mildy violent towards humans then being extremely violent towards animals(unless it's dogs or cats that are being harmed, for some reason people like them too much).

My opinion? Why not be extremely violent towards people and mildly violent towards animals? (jking....somewhat)
