is it lightning or lightningning when it is doing the action? I personally think it's lightning but my mother thinks its lightningning. need answers. Please leave sources

Well First of all I don't think you are dumb or stupid at ALL! I personally think this is a VERY good question and it is very smart, I think it is lightning, like you said but I think it could be put either way. Very good question!

lightning,  lightniningining, idon't think is even a word.  Check a dictionary and you will prove to your mom that you are right.

according to  http://dictionary.reference.com, lightninging is not a word with meaning.

lightning "  brilliant electric spark discharge in the atmosphere, occurring within a thundercloud, between clouds, or between a cloud and the ground"

is the right word to  be used

Good question. You can certainly use lightninging (not lightningning as you wrote) informally and I don't think anyone will have a problem understanding you. I don't think you'll find it in any printed dictionaries...yet, but it does have some current use so maybe in the next editions.  Some (very few I'd say) people use lightening. I'd say lightninging is a perfectly reasonable construction.
