some states have laws against it,but there is no federal law making it illegal. it is illegal for US banks to do business with online casinos,so you have to use alternative methods of funding.

There is no federal that makes it illegal to gamble online.  There is a law that limits the way banks transact with gambling sites.  The law has no means of enforcement, and does not target the player.  Some states make it illegal, but there is no real means of enforcement, either.  To date, there have been no charges filed and I'd wager that there never will be.

At some places it is legal and at some places its not.  It depends on where you do it.  They advertise on tv here so I couldn't be Ilegal because they wouldnt be able to do that on tv if it was.

There are no federal laws that prohibit playing online casino and poker for real money. The Oct. 2006 anti-Internet gambling law prohibits financial transactions, e.g. accepting bets from US customers.  I have not seen that anybody was prosecured for gambling online.

However, 11 States have laws that prohibit Internet gambling activity of PLAYERS. These States are:

Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, Nevada, Oregon, South Dakota, Washington, Michigan, New York, New Jersey and Wisconsin.

Do not gamble online if you live in one of these States.

In brief,  if you're not a resident of any of the 11 states that prohibit online gambling you can play in online casino legally. It is not legal for financial services to transfer money to casino, but it is not your problem.
