Is it long distance from illinois and texas?

Question

okay, so i wanna call my real close friend, back in austin,texas

and i live in chicago illinois, will the call be a long distance call

or is long distance only out of the US.

i really need to know, because i dont want to end up calling

and then getting a huge phone bill if it turns out to be long distance.

so i need to know for sure, if i can call him back in texas from

illinois with my normal phone rates.

If you're using a land line it's long distance.  If you're using and calling a cell phone it will depend on your and the callee's cell phone plan.

Any time that you call a different area code (type in the extra three numbers), it is long distance.  Out of the United States is an international call.
