i'm 17 years old and in good healthy, but for the past two years have had numbness in my fingers and toes when it gets just slightly cold. this problem drove me to the doctor where i got a few blood tests. my ana test came back positive 1:1280 and everything else was negative. is this extremely high? could it be nothing? previous to getting this blood test i have had no other signs of lupus other than the finger numbness (raynaud's). ever since the blood work i've been feeling stiffness in my joints but i think it may be partly psychological? i'm unsure. please help!!!

  1. My sister had your exact symptoms plus hair loss and she was also diagnosed with lupus. Now there not 100% sure.  The call lupus the disease of 1000 faces because of it's variable symptoms in different people. You need to fine a good rheumatologist to be 100% certain, as a diagnosis should not be based solely on bloodwork, it helps though.  It's been 20 years since my sister became ill and nothing has changed in her symptoms for the worse.  She is now the mother of two.  I know its hard not to worry. If there is something wrong with your joints the Dr. will pick up on that also, but expect the rheumatologist to order more blood work as he cannot make his diagnosis without it.  Good Luck

  2. probably not...my mom had the same symptons as u...but the doctor also said there was no lupus
