I had my transmission rebuilt in my 1995 camaro and when I got it it back there was no first gear or reverse and it stays in second gear all the time. the guy that did is saying that my solenoids are bad. Do you think that he is right or did is mess something up?

  1. Take it back and make him fix it right.

  2. Take it back and make the fool fix it right.

  3. Is this the mechanic that first diagnosed the problem and said it needed the transmission rebuilt and did it have same problem before being rebuilt? If so I'd be insisting that he fix the problem bec it was his diagnose that you relayed on and up to him to see to it being fixed properly.

Are there any codes coming up being recorded by main comp?If solenoid pack failer the comp should be indicating this via a transmission fault code and I'd be asking the mechanic how does he know it's bad and why didn't he know that before rebuilding it too.

Hope that helps and best of luck.By the way I might try going to a transmission shop to have them scan the system for free and offer you a second opinion etc.Basically there should be certain signs and codes appearing if solenoid pack is gone and certain test points that would confirm this too.Example if vehicle has a transmission control module a certain pin should be sending twelve volts to the solenoid pack and other pins should be also indicating this.Otherwise the transmission comp might of been at fault here all the time and thats why the transmission isn't working properly even after being rebuilt. Also the transmission comp could require a technical engineering program update and you should look into all of these possibilties , plus the right mechanic should know the answers too.

  4. well really if one rebuilds something and it don't work right then id have to say they didn't rebuild it very well.. he didn't do the job right

  5. I would beat the brakes off of him!

  6. Could be the car - I know nothing about them

However, even if it is, you need a new mechanic that you can trust.  You clearly no longer trust this one, and therefore your own faith in him and your car is stuffed

Get an inspection from your Auto Club (AAA??)

  7. he may have installed a too long bolt in the valve body which locks some compents or did not install little ball in inthe right place allso may need shifter cable adjust theres more that could cause ur promblem need to scan computer &see what happening
