Is it mandatory to have a MASTER'S degree to teach in NY?

I'm getting my BA in English and then want to go for NY certification. But I would like to get my master's WHILE working, if I am forced to. Thanks for the info.

Yes it is.  I have several cousins living in NY getting their degrees in education all had to get their masters.

You can get your certification and start teaching with a BA but will need to get your masters degree within 5yrs.
