being afraid of their own shadow. Why doesn't your faith or your religion give you strength? I am not religious. I believe in a God, and I don't live in fear. I don't get it.

  1. that's religion in a nutshell, be afraid of everything, because the after life will be great. poor deluded people.

  2. These people believe a lot is at stake. Where they will spend their eternities. Their present prosperity. The fate of the world and the future of all humankind. This is why they can't just relax and let go.

  3. Great question.  Its funny you ask though.  even in their bible it says that they can do all things through "christ" who "strengthens" them.  its sad that christians in this world cant live up to their own teachings.

  4. In someways, they're kind of brave, in a stubborn sort of way...who else would hold on so tightly to a sinking ship when everybody else is looking for ways to survive?

  5. It's you.  You have the exact opposite view of reality.

  6. Religion tends to make people panicky.

case in Point: Fundies and Jehovah Witnesses

    So no, it's not you.

  7. No one lives a sinless life. Imagine being brainwashed all your life, and believing in hellfire.

Some people can't take the pressure.

  8. 1Pe 1:17 And remember that the heavenly Father to whom you pray has no favorites when he judges. He will judge or reward you according to what you do. So you must live in reverent fear of him during your time as foreigners here on earth.

  9. Ask yourself what would happen to you if you didn't believe in god and then ask yourself again if you fear god.

There is only one reason to be religious and that is to allay some silly fear about what happens to you after you die.

  10. So because Christians are Christians, they immediately cease to be humans, with all the fears, wants, desires included with it?

Are you claiming that humans can EVOLVE into true Christians and thus cease to be human at all, thus never feeling fear at all?  Note the sarcasm...

They're human like you.  They have as much fear as you.  What gives them the strength to face those fears would be a firm belief that God will not forsake them.  That He will be there for them, no matter how bad things get.

Now was that so hard to deduce?

  11. I think it all boils down in a pile of flimsy patterns.

  12. well some people sees religions as a tools in controlling other people life's, when they got resistance they became fundamentalist. majority of people either muslim, christian, jews, buddha etc sees religion as a way to make a peace with their self and improve their livelihood.

but people tend to see the fundamentalist because they are the noisy one who always bragging about this and that to the point of using violence in which many of religions i know of always against that kind of practices while the rest of the people who practice religions tend to keep it to them self, so we rarely heard this people making some scene

  13. give an example

  14. You notice that too ? Yet they come here and brag about their bravery though when the military draft starts they all cry I'm 4F .

  15. Children need order and discipline to steer them in the "right" direction and those immature spirits (fundamentalists) are just the same.  They need some force to tell them what to do, how to do it, and for what reason.  Therefore many look to their religion as a parent.  It is easy to follow blindly and harder to think for yourself and discover your own personal truth.

  16. Religious people thrive on fear and the comfort of ignorance. They rely on their blind faith for power which doesn't make any sense. They need a god to keep them in line and to not do bad things.

  17. It must be you, though I doubt you are alone.

I am not a coward ( though I don't advocate needless risk) and certainly have no fear of my own shadow.  Though, I am a Christian.

You are most likely right in the sense that you really don't "get it".

  18. yes it's you!  but good try!  No one believes what you are saying and just because you voice it doesn't make it so.

  19. I am a Christian and I have no idea of which you speak.  I am assured that as long as I remain in the Way, as Luke called it, I am saved.  Jesus paid the price for my sins and they are forgiven as soon as I repent for doing the wrong things.  His blood continues to cleanse me from all sin and I know whom I have chosen.

  20. It's you.

It's not really about fear - it's about order. An orderly society is a stronger society, at least in historical terms. So it's natural (albeit reactionary) to prefer one, and to want to suppress abnormalities and eccentricities.

  21. To be honest, it sounds like you are painting folks with a label and a broad and stereotypical brush on a canvas of pastiche. Deal with real folks, real issues, and try to avoid the rather hackneyed attempt to compartmentalize those of us of who hold to distinctives .... we will actually listen to you, if you have something to offer.

  22. Interesting.

My sister told me I'm a [fundamentalist] because I believe there is only one path to God and it's through Jesus Christ. Not the "Church of Oprah". I'm not kidding. This woman, who used to be a minister, tried to tell me that there are [several] paths to God. It took everything I had not to hang up on her.

So if that makes [me] a fundamentalist. Then I guess I am. But I'm not afraid of anything. I'm a fighter! It tends to drive my husband a little crazy sometimes, but, oh well.

I'm not the kind of Christian to sit back and take it. You get in my face I'm getting in yours and kicking your butt. So if you can't take it. Don't dish it out.

By the way, you believe in God, but you're not religious. Here's something for you to think about. And no, I'm not trying to scare anybody it's just a fact and something for you to think about. "h**l is full of a lot of [good people]. You can't serve both".

  23. Hi, Sherry:

You just don't know, dear, but Jesus gives us a peace past understanding.

I've been in Atheistville, and will never travel there again.

God has blessed me and my wife so much that our lives are filled with such peace and love. We fear nothing and if God comes for us today, that is fine. If He wants us to work more for Him, that is fine too.

Yes, we will never go back to where we were before God found us--you don't know what you're missing, and h**l was an invention of paganism--so we don't believe that either.

If you need more faith in Jesus, the suffering Messiah, then break the Bible code at http://abiblecode.com

Shalom, peace in Jesus, Ben Yeshua

  24. you don't have the pressure of all the rules and threats of eternal damnation hanging over your head, that's probably the difference

  25. But didn't you hear?  The Bible never mentions shadows so they're the creation of the Devil. It's how satan can always follow you and influence you.  Yup.
