Question:

Is it me, or is Fedor Emelianenko one of the most over rated fighters out there today?

So he beat "former" heavyweight champ Sylvia. Ive seen most of the Sambo videos, but they wear more pads than in UFC training matches. UFC fighters only wear thin gloves. So he beats a former champion, and now is looking to take on Randy Couture, who is 45, and is somewhat past his prime. Liddell would probably not be his best match, but i think this guy is taking it easy, while fighters such as (i apologize for miss pellings) George St. Pierre, Jon Fitch, Brock Lesnar, and especially Anderson Silva are amazing, and i think Fedor is afraid to touch them. There are so many other fighters, and this guy is going for fighters in there 40's and past their prime. He may as well challenge Ken Shamrock. I think he is extremely over-rated. Any thoughts?

  1. Sambo's just Fedor's style. Complaining about the amount of padding Combat Sambo fighters wear in competition (which really isn't a whole lot) is really as inane as complaining that grappling tournaments don't employ striking. They're completely different sports than MMA.

Also, Fedor's beaten the current UFC heavyweight champion. Granted that happened years ago, but after seeing his performance at Affliction, I don't think he's washed up. Fedor circa PRIDE 2003-2005 was as dominant as Anderson Silva is now.

Third, what has Brock Lesnar done lately besides get submitted by a fat and washed up Frank Mir in the first round?

  2. I had it him at #6 until last night. i stopped giving him #1 cause the quality of opponents he had faced in the past couple of years. then to beat the c**p out of Big Tim like that in that amount of time definitely puts him as #1 heavy weight and #1 pound for pound in my book.
