Is it me or are most of the seven eleven workers from the middle east

Actually, it's not just middle eastern workers; they just seem to be the most obvious.  Many stores like Seven-11 are run by recent immigrants.  Part of the reason is that most stores like Seven-11 are franchises, and it takes several hundred thousand dollars to buy one of the franchises.  So what happens is that families of new immigrants pool their money to buy a Seven-11 franchise, then they all work in the store to keep expenses down.  And as one of the other respondents said, who wants to work the red-eye (graveyard) shift when you might get robbed.

When you come to a new country you have to accept jobs that no one else wants.  No one wants to work midnight to 9am at a place where you could get robbed.  I look at this differently since i lived in a foreign country for 2 years.  It's hard. /
